Public hearings set for proposed cable company merger

The state Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs (DCCA) Cable Television Division is hosting a series of public hearings regarding the joint application filed by Charter Communications Inc. and Time Warner Cable Inc., the parent company of Oceanic Time Warner Cable LLC, for approval of the indirect transfer of control of Oceanic’s cable television franchises from TWC to Charter.

The state Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs (DCCA) Cable Television Division is hosting a series of public hearings regarding the joint application filed by Charter Communications Inc. and Time Warner Cable Inc., the parent company of Oceanic Time Warner Cable LLC, for approval of the indirect transfer of control of Oceanic’s cable television franchises from TWC to Charter.

The public hearings are being hosted to seek comments and opinions regarding the proposed transfer and any cable-related issues.

The public hearings on the Big Island will be:

Time: 4:30 p.m.

Date: Wednesday, Sept. 9

Location: Aupuni Center Conference Room, 101 Pauahi St. Hilo

Time: 4:30 p.m.

Date: Thursday, Sept. 10

Location: West Hawaii Civic Center, Community Meeting Hale, 74-5044 Ane Keohokalole Highway, Kailua-Kona

If anyone is unable to attend in person, written comments can be emailed to cabletv@dcca.hawaii.gov, faxed to (808) 586-2625, or mailed to Cable Television Division, Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs, P.O. Box 541, Honolulu, HI 96809.

In order to satisfy mandated procedural deadlines, all written comments must be filed with DCCA-CATV by 4:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 25.
